Sila Heating & Air Conditioning was started in 1989 by Jack Rothacker, a third-generation heating and air conditioning professional who took the company from a family business to one of the largest and most respected regional heating and air conditioning companies in the northeast, with operations from Maryland to Massachusetts.
Jack started in the business working with his father, Steve Rothacker, for a company called Unique Indoor Comfort. Then, in 1989, Jack struck out to start his own Unique Indoor Comfort in Philadelphia. Over the years, with his father as mentor and counselor, Rothacker assembled a second-to-none team of executives, managers, engineers, installers and customer service personnel who – through trust and hard work and focus – expanded the Philadelphia Unique Indoor Comfort into a growing and an exciting regional enterprise.
In 2010, Jack converted his company to an independent organization and renamed it “Sila Heating & Air Conditioning”. Pronounced “see-lah”, the word derives from the Inuit god of energy, air and movement. The new energy worked. Since this new start, Sila’s success has continued with consistent double-digit-growth and an expansion into new markets and services.
Despite its incredible success, Sila remains a family business at heart. Many of the original “way back” team still work side by side. And Steve Rothacker continues to lend his expertise and support to the business as mentor and an important voice on Sila’s Board Of Directors.
The mission hasn’t changed in more than 25 years: To provide the highest quality heating and air conditioning services and products by supporting, empowering and rewarding exceptional people; by embracing a philosophy of continuous improvement; and by providing superior results to every customer.
